Last March 21, 2011 City Mayor Christian U. Tinio led city and barangay officials in inaugurating the Gapan City Technical School (GCTS). Through the GCTS, the City Government hopes to help the youth to find a job or establish their own shop by providing them with skills on welding, plumbing, massage therapy, beauty care and computer hardware servicing. The GCTS was created through Ordinance #06, series of 2010 which was approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod last September 13, 2010.
The City Government is working for the accreditation of the GCTS with the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the application of GCTS is currently being processed at the TESDA Region 3 Office. By accrediting the GCTS with TESDA, the graduates of the 5 courses would be able to get certificates once they passed the assessment made by TESDA assessors.
Fr. William Villa Visa blessed the lecture rooms, welding shop, computer, beauty care and massage rooms. The City Government bought the equipments, machines and other items that would be used by the students. Also present during the inauguration were City Administrator Ed Almera, City Councilor Nomeriano Gomez, representatives of the TESDA provincial office, Palayan Training Center and several Barangay Captains.
